Ocean Paddler TV is a program dedicated to Paddle Sports from around the pacific- Top events/locations. Outrigger canoeing, paddle boarding, waveski, canoe sailing and Hawaiian culture. In this first episode, we start off our first episode by taking you to Makaha for the first ever Quicksilver Stand-up Paddling Challenge. Some of the sport’s biggest names and best writers showed up for this event. Conditions were perfect and surf was rolling in with 12 to 20-foot faces.
Then, we’ll meet the gang from the Hawaiian Sailing Canoe Association. They’re a special breed of paddlers who use the wind to their advantage.
Then, we’ll meet up with OC1 and surf ski competitors at this year’s Hinano Kanaka Ikaika State Championship. This year was especially windy and the swells were large which makes for a very fast course.
Then, we wrap-up the show by taking a brief look at the history and cultural significance of the canoe in Polynesia and especially here in Hawaii. The canoe has evolved from an ancient mode of transportation to a sport, a cultural icon and for many, a lifestyle
